Wasted in Jarmen.

The hundredth birthday was not the end of the story. In early September, Andrei was a guest in Western Pomerania, at the Feine Sahne Fischfilet festival in Jarmen. A film night by the lake, a talk on the gravel-pit stage and, in the evening, a song with the band in front of five thousand people. “Scheißegal, wir haben gelebt.” Then Rostock, Gützkow and Leipzig.

3–10 September
What we did Thursday the film night by the lake with the tour clip. Friday at midday the talk with Monchi on the red sofa at the gravel pit, in the evening on the main stage with the band. In between the Peene river by boat, the Baltic Sea, an evening with the VVN-BdA in Rostock, a morning with students at Gymnasium Gützkow and, to close, Andrei’s opening words for 25 years of the Leipzig Forced Labour Memorial.

The moment · 4 September, main stage
“Scheißegal, wir haben gelebt.”

Feine Sahne Fischfilet bring Andrei on stage. A chorus that two hundred thousand people know by heart, roughly “Who cares, we have lived”, sounds different when a hundred-year-old from Buchenwald sings it. The band wrote: “We are so grateful that he came to our village festival in Western Pomerania and that we got to share this moment with him.”

A Hundred Years of Curiosity about the World.

Andrei Iwanowitsch Moiseenko was born on 1 May 1926 in north-eastern Ukraine. At the age of 15 he was taken as a forced labourer to HASAG in Leipzig, deported to Buchenwald in April 1944 and later to the Wansleben subcamp. He survived – and for almost sixty years said nothing about what he had seen.

Only in his late seventies did he begin to speak. Today he lives in Minsk, Belarus, rides his bike every day, keeps a dacha and travels the world. In spring 2026 he toured Germany for three weeks – from Buchenwald to the birthday matinee on 1 May at the German National Theatre in Weimar.
